The current projector system in the planetarium is a Spitz Nova III projector. The projector works with a starball projection system, which utilizes a sphere with pin holes that allow light to shine through to the dome. The system does not function properly, with the navigational and planet projection features being broken beyond repair, which has made the planetarium unusable for education purposes.
The new planetarium projector system will be the Nova-Lite G7, a fully digital system from Emerald Digital Planetarium Systems. The system offers many upgrades from the old system, including much higher picture quality, the ability to create or download pre-made shows, showcase views from anywhere in the world on demand, observe the universe from other planets, create anatomy and biology lessons, among many other things.
